Emerging Leaders Dialogue 2025

Client: AUS-PNG Network, Lowy Institute
Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
Role: Creative Director / Documenter

The Emerging Leaders Dialogue (ELD) is an annual initiative from the AUS-PNG Network, a project within the Lowy Institute. Each year, twenty leaders under 40 — ten from Papua New Guinea and ten from Australia — come together for a week-long dialogue. Through panel discussions, field trips, and shared cultural experiences, participants build relationships and explore the deep and evolving ties between the two countries.

For the 2025 ELD held in Port Moresby, I was brought on as Creative Director and Documenter. My role was to capture the essence of the week — visually, emotionally, and narratively — through video, audio, photography, and design. From the opening sessions to the closing reflections, I was on the ground documenting every layer of the experience.

Throughout the week, I recorded keynote addresses, intimate dialogue circles, cultural performances, and excursions to key institutions such as the National Museum and Art Gallery and the Moresby Arts Theatre. I also conducted participant interviews and produced professional headshots for each delegate.

To bring the event to life in real time, I proposed and delivered a fast-turnaround content plan, which included:

  • Daily highlight videos, edited and delivered each night for immediate publication the following morning
  • Curated photo wraps, showcasing the spirit, connection and momentum of each day
  • On-the-ground interviews with participants, sharing raw reflections and personal insights
  • Professional headshots, offering each delegate a polished asset for future opportunities

This approach offered the client something new — a richer, faster, and more engaging flow of content that connected not only those in the room, but also the broader community following along online. Alumni, government representatives, and others deeply invested in the Australia–PNG relationship were able to see and feel the energy of the dialogue as it happened.

The response was overwhelmingly positive. I received feedback from participants, organisers, and external stakeholders praising the depth, quality, and consistency of the content, as well as the immediacy of delivery. It helped elevate this year’s event and strengthened its legacy.

In addition to production, I designed the visual identity for the 2025 Dialogue, including the main logo. The motif subtly nods to 50 years of Papua New Guinea’s independence — a milestone reflected in the event’s theme: “Shared History, Shared Future.” The logo design was expanded into animated title slides, lower thirds, and visual overlays, tying all of the video and media together into a unified visual language.

From large-scale documentation to the smallest design details, this project was about capturing the momentum of a powerful, cross-cultural experience — and amplifying its meaning through thoughtful creative direction.
